Before we’re discussing about God’s miracles, who believe that everyday is a miracle? I know I do. The air that we breath, the food that we eat, the job that we entrusted to us … they are all God’s miracles.
During the life of Jesus, He did performed so many miracles. We even heard about His miracles ever since we were kids. But why did He do such miracles? For his marketing tools or to show off His Power? Of course not. He did those miracles because He loved and cared for the people and to vindicate the claims about Himself that He is Christ and His teaching.
"Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does. But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father." - John 10:37-38
There are many references in the Bible that mentions why Jesus did such miracles. There are two main reasons that I can think of. First, it's to give evidence that He's the Christ. Secondly, to bring people to have faith in Him as the Son of God.
However, we need to make a note that if our faith is merely based on His miracles, our faith to God is not mature enough and it becomes very fragile. It could easily break if we are suddenly facing an unexpected or frightening moment in our life when our faith to God isn't mature.
Do not focus our faith on God's miracles, because miracles are the effect or the results of our faith. We need to focus on the God's works and focus on the loving to God.
I grew up in a Buddhist family. When I was growing up, I was an obedient follower. I was taught to do good deeds and give donations to the needy, so that the good karma would come to us. It's absolutely nothing wrong with this teaching. However, I still felt the emptiness within my core. I didn't have a special relationship to whoever I worshipped to, until I've found Jesus and his teaching in the bible. He taught us to love our God, and refer Him as our Father. It is much easier to love the Father. It is much like loving our biological father, but you must love our Father through your faith.
Effects from God's Miracles
When I experience God's miracle in my life, the first thing I feel is that my faith is confirmed and it proves that God exists and real. So miracles can work as a faith booster.
There are few effects from the God's miracles that I can think of:
- God's miracles show God's glory.
- God's miracles make God's characters (Love, Grace, Power, and Compassion) become real.
- God's miracles establish God's authority to forgive sins - Mark 2: 4 - 12.
- God's miracles show God's power over satan. Please notes that satan can perform miracles for his evil purposes, but God's miracles are to show that He loves us and cares for us.
- God's miracles show God's mercy and compassion - Matthew 14:14.
